RESOURCES
As mentioned previously, there is software out there to make the web builder’s life easier. Home enthusiasts up to professional software developers will spend many hours developing a website if not for themselves, then for others. If you have used Flash to develop something clever and slick and are happy to share it with others, then there are websites where you can upload your work for others to download.
Here are some resources:-
• Flashkit. This is a well-known free “Flash Developers Resource Site” that contains a vast number of images, sound effects and loops, movies and fonts, to name but a few. They can be previewed and/or downloaded to your computer and embedded into your website. The site also has its own forum to help those encountering development problems.
• Swish and Swift are two other software tools that sit alongside Flash. The former is very simple to use, is free to download and allows the developer to create text effects and animations simply by typing what is required into it’s program. You choose the desired effect along with some other parameters and Swish does the rest for you. When you are happy with the result you can incorporate it into your website. Swift allows the user to create 3D animations.
• Flash extensions are also available to purchase or download (for free in some cases). Extensions (or add-ons as they are also known) give the user additional functionality. These come in all shapes and sizes and there are many available. One example is the ebook. Here the pages literally flip over on the screen as you click on them. Others may allow you to easily create slideshows and/or picture galleries.
